Quantum-classical interactions and measurement: a consistent description using statistical ensembles on configuration space

چکیده

We provide an overview of a canonical formalism that describes mixed quantumclassical systems in terms of statistical ensembles on configuration space, and discuss applications to measurement theory. It is shown that the formalism allows a general description of the measurement of a quantum system by a classical apparatus without running into inconsistencies. An example of classical and quantum particles interacting gravitationally is also given.

Interacting classical and quantum ensembles

A consistent description of interactions between classical and quantum systems is relevant to quantum measurement theory, and to calculations in quantum chemistry and quantum gravity. A solution is offered here to this longstanding problem, based on a universally-applicable formalism for ensembles on configuration space. This approach overcomes difficulties arising in previous attempts, and in ...

Coherent Transport of Single Photon in a Quantum Super-cavity with Mirrors Composed of Λ-Type Three-level Atomic Ensembles

In this paper, we study the coherent transport of single photon in a coupled resonator waveguide (CRW) where two threelevel Λ-type atomic ensembles are embedded in two separate cavities. We show that it is possible to control the photon transmission and reflection coefficients by using classical control fields. In particular, we find that the total photon transmission and reflection are achieva...

Covariant Information Theory and Emergent Gravity

Informational dependence between statistical or quantum subsystems can be described with Fisher information matrix or Fubini-Study metric obtained from variations of the sample/configuration space coordinates. Using these (non-covariant) objects as macroscopic constraints we consider statistical ensembles over the space of classical probability distributions (i.e. in statistical space) or quant...

We present a quantum information theory that allows for a consistent description of entanglement. It parallels classical (Shannon) information theory but is based entirely on density matrices (rather than probability distributions) for the description of quantum ensembles. We find that quantum conditional entropies can be negative for entangled systems, which leads to a violation of well-known ...
